MEGADETH Drummer Is Looking Forward To GIGANTOUR 2

May 27, 2006

MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover has posted the following message on the band's official MySpace.com page:

"OK, so now it's finally been announced that the Gigantour DVD will be released on September 5th — the next in line within the slew of cool things being released in the not so distant future. With the new MEGADETH record currently being worked on, the upcoming Argentina live DVD/CD, and this Gigantour DVD coming out, let's just say you are certainly going to get a MEGA-DOSE of cool stuff coming your way (sorry, I had to say the Mega-dose part — hehe).

"At this time I am enjoying the sunshine and basically just chilling out, as I know this is the calm before the storm. I look forword to the next storm. That storm is called 'G2' [Gigantour 2]!!!!"

As previously reported, the "Gigantour" two-disc DVD (Image Entertainment) will feature highlights from the tour's inaugural run which took place last summer.

Gigantour kicked-off on July 21, 2005 in Fresno, California, and hit 39 cities in the U.S. and Canada before ending on September 11, 2005 in Portland, Oregon. The tour was a seven-week festival trek co-headlined by MEGADETH and DREAM THEATER, featuring ANTHRAX, FEAR FACTORY, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, NEVERMORE, LIFE OF AGONY, SYMPHONY X, DRY KILL LOGIC and BOBAFLEX. Several of the bands performed only at specified cities on the schedule. The tour was the brainchild of MEGADETH frontman/guitarist Dave Mustaine, who handpicked the bands for the tour.

MEGADETH have begun work on their as-yet-untitled Roadrunner Records debut under the watchful eye of mainman Dave Mustaine and co-producer Jeff Balding. The initial studio sessions — held at Sarm Studios, outside of London — were filmed by director Michael Sarna (ANTHRAX, OBITUARY) and are available at Megadeth.com to fan-club members.

MEGADETH's last CD, "The System Has Failed", has sold just under 180,000 copies since its September 2004 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The group, who were most recently signed to Sanctuary Records, were joined by bassist James Lomenzo (ex-BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, WHITE LION) in February following the departure of James MacDonough (ex-ICED EARTH).

As previously reported, three TV-broadcast video clips of MEGADETH's performance in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 9, 2005 have been posted online at YouTube.com. Check them out:

"Symphony of Destruction" (video)
"Coming Home" (video)
"A Tout le Monde" (video)

These clips are expected to be included on an upcoming DVD of the band's performance in Buenos Aires.
